I am an incredibly fortunate person: my frugality is elective, not a requirement for my survival.

A certain amount of fortune enables experience and perspective; those with much of it do everything to continue on a path of wealth, even if it is not the path to fulfilment. Before you have it, discipline and well-directed work are necessary. When you have it, personal values and ethics should be even more central to every decision.

A sweet and simple life is out of reach for many poor people, but a dash of frugality can help everyone. However vast your fortune may be, consider what you are trying to achieve; if you would even like its reality.
