Educating myself often feels like waking up to an unreasonable world full of harmful faith. There is no alternative to reason, and pursuing it has sufficient meaning in itself, but its sobering effect is a double-edged sword. Personal learning is accompanied by the realisation that most others are still misguided by ideas and their susceptibility to those ideas. I try to be compassionate and, most of all, understand others. I keep the focus on condemning ideas, not people.

All of this is hard for me to do, and it makes already unrewarding conversations with theists even harder. If you have any tips for making the waking up more pleasant, please let me know.
